In-house Competition - Are You First Responder Fit?

The Strength Movement is pleased to announce its first In-house competition and event: Are You First Responder Fit, scheduled for Saturday, February 9th, 2019. This event is free to our members and first responders, please contact Eryca at eryca@strengthmovementoc.com for details on registering.

To kick-start the new year, we want to bring the community together and what better way than the meet the people that commit a lot of time and effort to making sure our neighborhoods are safe! First Responders have physically and mentally demanding jobs, meaning they have to be of optimal physical capacity in order to perform their duties. Take the opportunity to test your physical and mental toughness in our in-house competition to see if you're in the best shape to be on duty, or to see if you've got what it takes to join the force!

We want EVERYBODY to sign up.

This event isn't limited to just our gym members, or First Responders, we also want everyone in the community to sign up. This is a great chance to meet everyone in the neighborhood and to also test your physical and mental limits - even if you don't win, you'll gain a newfound respect for those that protect and serve and for yourself as well!

The First Responder Fit event is doable for EVERYBODY in the gym and in the community!

Date: Saturday, February 9th, 2019

  • Athlete Registration starts @ 8:00 a.m.

  • Athletes and Judges Meeting @ 9:00 a.m.

  • Event 1 @ 9:30 a.m. [SHARP]

There are Scaled and Prescribed (Rx) options for each workout. The workouts are structured that all athletes can compete together, scaled athletes will be in heats alongside Rx athletes. This is going to be a great time and a great competitive and team-building environment. It's going to have the best of everything: the experience of competing in a real event with judges, heat times, multiple workouts in the day, orchestrating movements and techniques necessary for first responder work, and more! The best thing is you'll be able to do it at your own pace with fellow teammates competing alongside.

This will be a one-of-a-kind mini competition, that will teach you many things about yourself and those that work to keep our communities safer!

Objective: Sprint based section focusing on problem solving and teamwork

Objective: Endurance

  • 1 mile run

  • 15 KB hoist up and down

  • 50 sandbag weighted step ups

  • 400m sandbag carry
